DJ Leanne is one marvelous and beautiful gal who does an exceptional job working with her clients to ensure their music needs are met! We met DJ Leanne at the Opus Hotel party at the end of the summer, and it wasn't long until we fell in love with her tunes! They were so fresh, original, and most importantly, they made us wanting more and more! We are so excited to announce that DJ Leanne will be our resident DJ at the most opulent event of the year!

Creme de la Creme & Beautiful Photos!

We are very excited to announce another great exhibitor to our show- Maru Photography. Maru Photography truly captures the essence of beauty through their stunning work and we recently asked them about their personalized work! 

What does luxury mean to you?

True luxury is about being new. The best are always trying to do things in a way that has never been done before. The “Crème de la Crème” of photography is about defining the next trend and newest styles in wedding imagery. For me, this means taking the best of photojournalism, fashion and art and combining them in to a new style I call fusion photography. In fusion photography, the goal is to produce art. We are moving away from a purely documentary style of photography to a style that reveals something about the deeper character of a couple. Of every image we make, I ask not only what it looks like, but what it feels like as well. If the image makes us feel happy, romantic, sensual, glamorous or even pure heat, then to me, it is a great wedding image.

Fusion photography represents a conceptual shift in wedding photography. Whereas in the past, photography tended to end with the release of the shutter, in fusion photography, the release of the shutter represents only the beginning of the artistic process. To me, the “photographic negative” is but a sketch, a mere blueprint for what the final image might become. At Maru Photography, I take each image made on the wedding day and transform it with subtle adjustments to shade, tone and light; always with the goal of revealing the deeper meaning and emotion that existed in the moment the original image was taken.

 

How do you personalize your work?

To ensure that each image represents a beautiful and unique work of art, I also personally print and bind all of the images myself. I travel extensively, particularly in Europe, bringing home with me the finest finishing materials and most innovative new ideas in style and incorporate these into my work. Because I do my own design and print work, I must limit the number of commissions I take annually in order to be able to devote the time and attention necessary to take each image from photograph to fine art. As a result, I am often booked up to 2 years in advance of a wedding date.

 

In this way, everything I do in my photography is in service of emotion. What is most important for me about an image is that it elicits emotion in the viewer. I want the image to speak…to tell me not just about what is immediately visible in the image but to reveal something of its deeper character, its emotional heart. I don’t want to simply see an image, I want to feel it.

One of the most relaxing aspects of the wedding lead-up is the pampering brides enjoy prior to the big event, and grooms are not to be left out! This year, Crème de la Crème delights in introducing Momentum Grooming as one of our exhibitors. Now celebrating its sixth year of catering to the men of Metro Vancouver, this one-of-a-kind men's salon has recently added a uniquely-designed Barber Suite, based on the traditional barbershop concept. The spacious and modern Barber Suite offers high-quality, precision haircuts, beard/goatee trims, and straight razor shaves among other services.

In addition to offering a full range of hair cut and “grey-camouflage” services, Momentum Grooming’s keystone is a multi-step, proprietary straight-razor shave. Using only the finest natural shaving products, Vancouver's lucky gentlemen are treated to a luxurious shave that involves several steaming-hot towels, aromatic pre-shave oil, and warm shave lather. A champagne bucket is kept full of towels soaked in a blend of ice water and unscented aftershave balm, which are used to cool, calm and refresh the skin. A post-shave mask containing soothing and healing essential oils is applied, followed by moisturizer and facial massage. The entire process is undertaken whilst reclined in a plush leather barber chair.

Momentum Grooming is already becoming a tradition for the most stylish grooms and groomsmen, with many men discovering the relaxing pleasure of being professionally groomed while preparing for the big day. Wedding photographers are also welcome to document the experience.

Occupying over 1,200 square feet on Burrard Street, Momentum Grooming has dedicated half of their space to the Barber Suite, while the remainder of floor space is a retail store stocked with the finest grooming products from around the globe. Many exclusive lines can be found including Truefitt & Hill, whose fine shaving and toiletry products date back to 1805. Classic shaving tools such as straight razors, double-edge safety razors, and badger-hair shaving brushes are found in abundance; along with designer handles for Gillette™ Mach III™ and Fusion™ cartridges.
